The closing ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics at Sochi, Russia was held yesterday.
Many of you would probably have watched the scene of five large snowflakes descending into the stadium which expanded and joined to form the Olympic rings during the opening ceremony. Unfortunately, a technical glitch caused the fifth ring not to expand, resulting in an incomplete Olympic symbol.
And this news was splashed all over major newspaper around the world and online for the wrong reason.
How could something like this happened, on such an important event?
Remember how impressive the Beijing Olympic's opening ceremony was? Everything was so well synchronized and coordinated. It looked as if they've rehearsed a million times to have such a perfect performance.
But things do happen, for the wrong reasons. They happen when you least expected it There is no point in crying over spilled milk.
So instead of blaming themselves for the glitch, the Russian turned it into an opportunity.
At the closing ceremony, they poked fun at its infamous opening ceremony gaffe. At the beginning of the closing ceremony, dancers wearing bright, shiny costumes gathered to form four Olympic rings. But, just like 16 nights ago, the fifth ring didn’t form.
After a while, the dancers burst from their pack and completed the fifth Olympic ring.
How brilliant.
Now it completes the cycle, linking the opening to the closing.
And many people will remember this Olympics, for the glitch and its beautiful ending.
Like what they always say, there's an opportunity in every adversity.
Is there any adversity in your business that ypu can turn into an opportunity?
