After surfing through the website to see how it works and signing up for the service through my Facebook profile, I ordered something which I promptly cancelled.
There is not much differences in this new service compared to other existing food delivery services except that they charge a flat delivery rate ($1.50) and their focus is on hawker food. And these two differences could be easily copied by its competitors.
I wanted to unsubscribe from the service so I can stop receiving their email newsletters.
That's when I realized there's no unsubscribe option on my sign-in page. On hindsight, I realized that many websites do not have such option too.
I looked through the website and found an email address which I wrote in to request them to remove me from their mailing list.
The reply came back.
"Thank you for your email. We hope to serve you delicious and affordable hawker food. We're sad to see you go but if you must, please use the unsubscribe link in our promotional emails.
I'm sure they can easily remove me from their mailing list in the backend. Instead of doing that, they asked me to unsubscribe through their promotional emails which I've not to receive any.
Is it another attempt to makes me stay with them by making it difficult for me to unsubscribe?
What if they remove me from their mailing list immediately, look at my activity history and use it to ask smart questions? Why did I order and cancel it right after?
Or they have already done so and smart enough to know that I was just testing out their service?
