A family of four were sitting at a food center having their lunch.
The parents were eating their food while the two boys were busy playing games on their hand phones. The father finished his food and went somewhere.
Their drink order came and while paying for the drinks, the mother dropped a 10 cents coin on the ground.
She turned to the elder son and said casually, "Pick up the coin."
But he was too engrossed with his game and just stood there. No reply and no action.
The mom turned and looked at her son and then continue eating her food, leaving the coin on the floor.
A girl from the next table saw the coin on the floor and went over to gesture to the boy about the coin. The boy continued with his game while his mom just continue eating.
The girl and her sister were puzzled and wondered why they are not picking up the coin.
A kid from another table noticed the whole incident and turned to look at his father. Did he want to ask his him why they did not pick up the coin?
Then the lady owner from a drink stall came over and sat at the same table with the family.
She saw the coin, picked it up and left it on the table and murmured to the mom, "Your coin?"
I didn't hear if she thanked the lady owner.
Did this mom think that it's too dirty to pick up a coin she dropped on the floor? Did she think 10 cents is not worth her effort to bend and pick it up? Was she too lazy and cannot be bothered?
More importantly, what value did she just teach her son about the value of money?
