"Judge a man by his questions rather than by his answers."
In recognition of its male citizens contribution to serving two years of army, the Singapore government reward them with one hundred dollar value of vouchers (NS50) in celebration of the army's 50th anniversary.
These vouchers can be used at many participating outlets. Vouchers are in ten dollar denomination and each voucher is printed with the last four digits of citizen's Identification Card (IC) number. A man used two vouchers to pay for groceries at a supermarket. He was not asked to show his IC to proves that the vouchers belonged to him. His mom used three vouchers to pay for groceries at a different supermarket chain but was told that she needs to produce the IC so that the cashier can check that the vouchers belonged to the rightful owner. His mom said the other supermarket chain did not ask for it. The cashier told her that she was instructed by her superior to ask for it. What if the vouchers were issued without the IC details? Would the cashier asks for proof of ownership for payment by vouchers issued by the supermarket chain? Would the cashier asks for proof of ownership of payment by cash? A man was invited to an event at a two star Michelin restaurant.
As he sat down on his designated seat, he noticed that there's a small saucer with an off-white round thing on the table of every seat. Having attended numerous sit down dinners, he assumed that the thing is butter. When the dinner was about to start, a waiter came by with a small jar and started pouring some liquid onto the saucer. The butter started expanding vertically until it looked like a tower. That's when he realized it's a hand towel. When his host sat down opposite him, he told him that he thought the towel was butter and almost wanted to eat it. "What we keep, we lose; what we give away, we keep forever."
