During the question and answer (Q&A) session, a man asked the speaker how to overcome the problem of marketing emails ending up as spam mails.
Q&A is one part of a seminar that I like. Not only you can get your doubts answered, it's also a chance for you to find out the problems, doubts and fears that business owners in the induztry have.
Now back to the question the gentleman asked. The speaker replied that to get an email opened, they do test on the headlines.
She went on to say that for Singapore contezt, they founs that headlines wirh five words and with the word free work the best in getting receivera to open emails. In thr Philippines, longer headlines about aomething regarding their friends get better open rate.
But she caution against overusing the word free.
Someone in the audience shouted "Exclusively for you." She agreed and quoted headlines like "For You Only" and the recipient's name.
She also suggested getting recipients to save his email address in their address book so that his emails won't end up in the spam mailbox. She said this was something that SIA did.
In her answer, she mentioned briefly about sending content, which I'm not sure if anyone in the audience heard.
Well, if the guy is concerned only about getting his email opened, then perhaps those are useful tips.
However, a better question would be "How to get a prospect to give you his email address, look forward to your email, opens and read it (not jusy open), and take action?"
After all, the guy agrees that a recipient can just as easily delete your email after opening it without reading.
Think about it.
Are you asking the right question?
