We shared what we both do and she asked me some questions related to my area of work.
It turned out that there's some issues with her business website, which was designed by someone doing this on a part-time basis. She wanted to make changes to her website but is unable to do so as the guy is busy with his full-time job.
I've no idea what's the arrangement was between both parties. However, if she is going back to him to make changes, I assume that he holds the key to managing her website. Does she pay him a monthly fee to manage the website or on a project basis? Why didn't she ask him to teach her on some basic skills to make basic changes? Did the guy deliberately makes it mandatory for her to go back to him every time she needs to get something done on her website, holding her hostage?
I took a look at the website and shared that the website is rather simple. Anyone could build one using those idiot-proof online services like Wordpress, Weebly or Wix. However, I did highlight to her that he might has designed the website using programming language. After all, I'm not an expert in this area.
But whether the guy is paid on a monthly continuous basis or project basis, it's unprofessional of him to keep his client in a limbo situation. She should demand certain level of service from him.
We talked a bit about her industry and branding as well.
I told her frankly I've no experience in her industry and would need to find out more information. However, she could visit my blog at http://outrageousmarketing.weebly.com to get ideas on marketing and business. It covers the fundamentals of business that are applicable in any business and industry.
On a separate issue, someone in the same Facebook Group as me sent me a message asking me what do I do?
The simple and straight forward answer is I help business owners and marketers in their marketing.
You could actually tell what I do from my blog (Outrageous Marketing).
But on a deeper level, it's all about being an advocate for doing the right things in business and challenging oneself.
What about you? What is your business all about?
