The lightning and thunder lasted for almost half an hour. At times, the lighting was so bright and thunder was so loud that it seemed to hit the ground and cracked it. I opened the door and looked out. You could see waves and waves of rain coming down like someone's pouring pails of water from upstair. In fact, the rain came pouring at almost 45 degree angle due to the unusually strong wind that caused my gate to swing as well. The flat two blocks away was blurred. I couldn't even see the covered walkway clearly. The drains were overflowed and the ground was flooded. Just then, my neighbor came up and told me she has to wear slippers to work as everywhere is flooded. It was 7 am in the morning. Hmm.. If this is going to continue for the next half an hour, everyone's going to be late for work. There's no way one can go work in such heavy rain. Even with a big umbrella, you'll be half drench. And there'll be the slow traffic on the road due to the poor visibility. The rain turned smaller and stopped just when I was leaving house. On the bus to the subway station, I saw fallen tree branches and metal hoarding at construction sites toppled. Passing by a hotel, there was a super long queue of hotel guests at the entrance waiting for taxi. All dressed up in suits with their briefcase of document ready to get to their destination and talk business. Except that there's no taxi in sight. Taxi service is always in high demand on days like this. No wonder the staff was trying frantically to get cabs from the road and calling on the phone at the same time. Now, what if you work in the business district and on the way to office, drop by the hotel to offer a free ride to any of the guests going the same way every day? How's that for networking? P.S. You can work with the hotel's management so they can safely tell their guests about it. There's still Happy Socks, Happy Shoes, Happy Hat, Happy Soup.....

One that lasts forever. Most management trainees are rotated among different business units and departments so they get exposure to different aspect of an organization's operations.
