She took the opportunity to meet up with some of her friends.
A friend suggested meeting at her favorite cafe.
On the day of the appointment, she was the first to arrived with her son.
A friend, K soon reached and went to order a hot latte and an iced latte. The drinks were served shortly.
Another friend, J also reached shortly and went to order a hot mocha.
When his mocha came, there was a small piece of chocolate cake or brownie on the saucer.
Knowing that her son likes all things chocolate, he gave it to him.
He asked the kid, "Is it nice?"
Seeing the kid loves that, K said he'll ask the staff for another piece of the cake for him as the cafe didn't sell that on their menu. It looked like they were specially made to go with the hot drinks.
J asked K where is his own piece of cake for his drink.
That's when both the lady and J said every hot drink will come with a piece of that cake.
K said his didn't come with one.
K went to ask the staff for one more piece and the staff seemed stunned by the request.
She told another colleague in a subtly sarcastic tone of K's request before going into the kitchen. The kind that makes one feel like he is a cheapo.
When she appeared, she was holding a small tong with the smallest piece of cake K has ever seen.
K took his saucer for her to place the cake.
Do you think the cafe do stock take for the little pieces of cake?
What if the staff gave two or even three pieces?
K bought a slice of chocolate cake for the kid when he came back from the toilet with the kid, which tasted awful by the way.
And he doesn't think he will ever patronize the cafe again.
