It has been many years since he last bought a card.
While he went around checking out for a card that suits the recipient and within the budget, he was shocked at some of the prices of cards.
Finally, he settled for a small plain card with a photo of a cat and no wordings on the inside of the card. It costs $5.99.
A few days later, he passed by a book and stationery shop, which has several outlets in Singapore.
He saw there were cards on sale and wonder if there are better designs (than the one he bought) and what are the prices like.
Most of the designs seems to be done in-house as he did not see them at other shops. Each card costs $4.99.
Right on top of the whole wall of cards displayed, there are two promotion pricing board.
"Buy 3 at $12"
He looked at the cards again. Most of them are themed. There are "Farewell", "Birthday", "Friendship", "Anniversary", "Wedding", "New Born", "Mom", "Dad", etc.
And he wonder how many people will buy three cards at the same time.
What could be the reason for this pricing tactic?
