Can you ever live your life without trusting anything or anyone, including strangers?
Are you amazed by the amount of trust that you have to expend every day? You trust the nature. You trust the sun will rise tomorrow and clear sky will comes after the rain. These are nature's law and they never change. In your personal life, you trust that your money in the bank is there although you don't see them. You trust the lift and elevator will work properly. You trust no strangers is going to hit you for no reason while you're walking on the street. You trust the tin of oatmeal cookies you buy really contain oatmeal cookies and not something else. You trust that it contains no egg if the packaging says so. You trust it is safe for consumption too. You trust that it is safe if the relevant authority says so. You REALLY HAVE TO trust in order to live a normal life. Imagine what if you don't trust? You'll withdraw your money and keep them under your bed. You will be climbing the stairs instead of taking the lift or elevator. You have to be on your guard against everyone on the street. You will open every thing to check before buying in order to make sure they are the correct items. And you'll test every product to make sure it is safe for consumption. Because you have to trust to live a normal life, you become more careful in trusting when you have a choice. For example, you know that your money will be safe in the bank. But you have the choice of choosing a bank out of the many, you select one that you trust even though there's no difference in these banks. Of course, you can't choose which lift or elevator to take. But if you know that particular one is always giving you problem, you are less likely to take it. And there are the exceptions. The lift that never break down might just break down the day you took it. A stranger might just hit you out of the blue. The bank you trust may goes bankrupt. You might find some extra ingredient in the cookies. When that trust is breached, there's going to be BIG BIG problem for the business. Just look at what happened to the baby milk scandal in China. For business owners, when you earned the trust of your customers, do you work on maintaining and improving the level of trust? P.S. Your customers have to trust and so trust becomes scarce when they have options.
